Practice Development

When it comes to business development in the law firm context, it is imperative to organise resources with a dedicated focus on each practice area. 

We work with an individual partner, or a group of partners on developing their specific practice area.

As part of this initiative, we assist partners to develop their practice’s business, and build their relationships with existing clients as well as targeted potential or wish-list clients. It also includes managing the market profile of the practice and its key partners. 

The scope of our advisory services may include the following:

  • development of the strategic plan for practice development, client engagement, industry sector penetration

  • regional growth (if necessary)

  • monitor developments against agreed plans

  • assist with the management of key client relationships within the practice

  • align with firm-wide planning in relation to sector focus or client focus

  • analyse existing client base and identify areas of revenue growth

  • cover all aspects of client relationships and update partners ahead of client relationship meetings 

  • enhance the practice's profile via targeted marketing campaigns, events and seminars, etc.

  • assist in finalising and monitoring of the practice’s BD and marketing budget on an annual basis (if necessary)

One-to-One Partner Support

We also offer confidential one-to-one partner support on business and client development. This involves developing a detailed action plan on a partner’s practice, and monitoring agreed plans on a weekly basis. We have also received requests from senior partners to monitor their client engagements and offer evaluations and ideas. This is a bespoke service that is structured based on detailed initial discussions with an interested partner.  

Client Development

We work closely with partners on all aspects of client relationship building initiatives, including the enhancement of client relationships, as well as the implementation of a key client account management programme.

If and when necessary, we can collaborate with journalists from various media platforms including mainstream, industry-specific, broadcast and regional news-wires.

Ranking / Directory submissions

Every law firm has a reputation, whether they actively look after it or not. You can call its reputation, or that of its partners, a valuable asset that must be protected and enhanced with every opportunity.

Awards and ranking within the legal sector has gained prominence in recents years due to increased awareness of how they are influencing the buyers of legal services (especially within the B2B segment). 

These days it is common for buyers to consult reputable ranking directories to identify law firms to be approached or to form a line-up of firms to be invited for participation in a RFP process. 

We are adept at coaching partners on best practices to ensure they completely understand the criteria, as well as how the points are apportioned between different sections in the submission (and between different directories), and communicate strategies to dictate the development and positioning of content.

The following are some of processes involved:

Branding

We are aware that many think about logo, website, corporate colours, name-cards and brochures when it comes to branding. These are part of the visual identity of the brand, but the process of branding is much more than the creation of the visual identity.
